So, renewing my clutch the other day revealed the condition of the flywheel.
At first I thought it was trash, but then I read some people saying that about all theese flywheels have cracks.

What is the risk of putting this back on?
Of course its hard to judge only by a picture, but the more opinions, the better.

The heatmarks which looks like corrosion on the outside of the clutch surface, is just as smooth as the shiny fields.
So, trash or reuse?

i worked at a gearbox repair shop and anything like that would get replaced, usually with an exhange item from memory. so yes either get it reco'd (if the cracks arnt too deep) or get a reco'd 2nd hand unit or new...

if it didnt have the crack, giving it a going over with some emery paper in a circular motion, one section at a time, is usually all thats needed.

i would be inclined to think the crack will continue to get bigger if reused.

Had it inspected yesterday by an engine mechanic, he also said to throw it away. With those heat marks it was nearly impossible to get it resurfaced and get proper balance.

So think i'll polish it and make a wall clock out of it.
Anyone have a tip on what/where to buy a replacement? (stock, resurfaced, billet steel etc.?)

I wouldnt want it in my mi16 with those kind of cracks
