I'm going to whip the rear shafts off my 4bie tomorrow, it was so long ago i've done it, i can't remember how to do it!!

I was underneath it taking the exhaust and prop off ready today, i had a brief look but can't see how to do it, it's not like the front end where you can disconnect the ball joint and swing the whole hub assembly round, taking the shaft out the hub end first etc!

It seems like one side is like a half shaft affair, with a retaining ring with about 6 bolts securing the shaft into the diff, but the other side isn't. I presume when i drop the diff down then i can get enough movment on the shaft to pull them from the diff etc, and then from the hubs, i'm sure it'll all become clear when i come to do it, but in preparation i just can't think how it works!?!

Enlighten me please!! laugh.gif

First remove brakes, then remove hub with bearings. After that just pull axle away, same on both sides.

Ahh right, thanks for that, i don't really want to do that right away as it'll make the rest of the car immobile, i think i'll leave that 'til last then!

Cheers
