Picked up a 405 Mi16 yesterday, got it from Kev (Pugtop). It's a P2 on an L plate in Sorrento, myself and Alex (Boobies) popped over to his yesterday morning to help collect the parts and get the car onto the trailer, he kindly delivered it that lunchtime.

Basically the car has no engine, we have loads of parts from Kev too, GTI6 bottom ends, S16 heads, camshafts, pulleys, rods, pistons....you name it we have it...in boxes in the boot !

The engine needs sorting out, there are good bits from each which we'll use to make a good one, finally dropping it into the car in a few months. Not totally sure on the timescale but using for a Ring trip in September.

I know these normally get bought and then stripped for their engines, so we're kind of doing it the wrong way round but it'll be good to save one and get it back on the road.

Here are some prelim pics, will get a proper detailed project thread going when we start. I'm hoping to get cracking on cleaning up the engine bay pretty soon.

Yeah it is pretty good actually. The bodywork is strong, needs a good wash and polish though.

The interior is also pretty good, again it needs a clean but not much more than that. Few bits of trim missing inside but think we have most of the bits for it to go back together.

The engine is the main thing...obviously ! Hoping to get it sorted by Easter time.

Exactly what it'll be used for Baz, that and a few other track days. Other than that it'll sit tucked away in the garage

I "bought" it on ebay, but couldn't collect it, so Pugtop collected it and investigated the misfire, which wasnt a misfire but 4 bent valves due to a fudged timing belt change!


either way, it has been saved eventually!
