Hello to all,
I would like to know the max. cam lift,it is possible to have, without problems, using the original hydraulic followers and original pistons.
Let me know, also, the cheapest way to use mecanic(solid)lifters.
Is it easy to convert the hydraulic in solid?
Is it possible to find some came from some motorcycle?
Thanks in advance.
Kostas.

That depends on what you consider to be a safe piston to valve clearance at full lift. Using 0.080" as a safe limit for the inlet, the maximum is 0.105" @ TDC.

The cheapest conversion to solids is to throw away the hydraulic piston assembly and fit a solid centre to the original bucket.

Easiest way is to buy a set of solid lifters from Arrow Engineering.

Kawasaki Z650 followers are good if you wish to enlarge the bores from 32mm to 33mm, then use long stem custom valves.

I've been looking at the R and RS heads the past few days and found that there isn't a great deal of room to play with on the stock pistons, is the Mi16 head and piston combination that much easier to fit higher lift cams without deeper cutouts?
