My dad has bought a 1996 N reg 405 GTX for £480. This is one of the later GTXs with the Mi16 style bumpers and it's in cherry red like my car! This'll confuse the neighbours

wow thats cheap!
But i've noticed that 405 are a lot cheaper in the UK.
To bad the steering is on the wrong side

I've already spotted a le mans and a mi16 for less then £700
Thinking about importing it and transfering everything onto my 405

Except steering etc

It's got the 8 valve 2 litre engine, no racer but it pulls well from low down. Peak torque at 2750rpm.

No-one appreciates the qualities in old pugs over here. People are too busy trying to buy a bigger VW than the neighbours. That's why they're cheap.

Cool good one thanks Paul.
Have you got any other phase 2 405 bits?
Rippthrough, yes I agree, most people are what I call reg plate freaks, i.e they would drive a really undesirable car just to be seen with the newest reg they can afford.

I cleaned the bugger earlier. It's not as shiney as my car. It's like someone was a bit overzealous with the carwash.

The more 405's the better!!
It's a shame nobody appreciates the 405 over here. For a car that out performs all new models and looks far less dated than the 406 already. Can't see there being any classic, desirable 406's or 407's in 15 years time.

I know when I took my dad over to see the GTX the bloke seemed well impressed with my car, he said that the only time he's driven an Mi16 was when he was given one as a hire car. Someone was being generous to have Mi16s as hire cars lol.
