i want to put a 2.0 8v turbo lump out of the 406 sri in to my 405 mi16 4x4 .i've been told it should fit straight in and is easy enough to do if your hand with a tool or two. is this true ?

the only thing i can think of is the standard forbie engine has a bracket on the block (back right hand side) for the transfer box, check it has that.
i will check that this weekend apart from that is it just a straight swap ?

The enginemount needs to be from 4bie. Block needs a little grinding to gain space for transferbox. But overall, it is possible to fit xu10j2te engine to Mi16x4.

yeah ill second that, you never see turbo 405s except t16s of corse!
