OK the Peugeot Sports Offical Owners Club is celebrating its 25 birthday in 2010 and we are planning an exclusive day at Cadwell Park, we are inviting all the Peugeot clubs to come join us.

I need to get names of people if they are interested in doing it.

Please only put your names down if you are serious about coming it will probably cost in the region of £100 for the day. (still have to confirm this)

List is here http://psooc.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67321

Would be great to have a big selection of Peugeots there....and this will be organised by MotorSport Vision so its a properly organised track day and bad behaviour will not be tollerated by them.

I would be interested if I could guarantee that my car was going to be ready by then, it might well be finished by march but I think I need to wait until nearer the time before I could commit to anything.

BazGTMi
That's expensive, unsurprisingly for an MSV day. Have you talked to other trackday operators Nick?

And another quick Q, i presume this is instead of Llandow?
Nick_MCUK
Baz,

No its not....cheaper than most real days there at that time of year...normally £159....yeah ok if you go now or Jan/Feb time you will probably go for £89-99 quid.

Yes I did a lot of research into this....so yes it is a good price!

smile.gif

....and yeah we are not doing Llandow this year as spring meet....This is a early track day and we will do a spring meet maybe at one of the shows....the poor attendance last year and the effort required to fill it indicated that people just we not that bothered about Llandow (I know for one I wouldn't bother going)

BazGTMi
No really, it's not that cheap, and it's not even a peak time. All MSV days are more expensive than Indie trackday op's, especially when you add the extra driver and passenger extortion. Forgive me for my ignorance if i'm wrong, and i don't mean to offend, but i gather your experience of trackdays at any level is quite limited?.

Was there any research done via asking other members of PSOOC etc before this was organised? Because IMO, it's wrecked the very essence of what the Spring meet has always been afaia. It's now at quite a serious circuit, and subsequently expensive, another reason in itself, and from what i've seen, not many have been given a chance to give an opinion on it. Llandow was good as it's a simple circuit, and is actually very exploitable from a fun POV, and did i mention cheap... this is ultimately what people want.

As said on Psooc, it would've been an idea to speak to someone in the know first, possibly even fellow member Darren Langeveld who works for circuit days, as they'd have happily organised a day at cadwell and done it cheaper than MSV... akin to what we did in September for the 205GTiDrivers day, although we essentially tacked on the back of an existing day being run, but it worked very well.

I have actually done quite a few car and bike track days mostly with MSV (or what used to be Octagon Leisure) so I am no newbie to track days ok I havent done one for a few years.

It has been discussed a number of times by the committee and the last meeting we had it was decided that we would go with the Cadwell/MSV day, whilst it is at the start of the year we will still do a Spring meet but at a static show. The cost and financial risk that is involved with hiring Llandow is quite high if we risk getting the same or less numbers as we did at the start of the year. The MSV day is an exclusive day "if" we get the numbers which we should as there is already a lot of interest, the other factor is there is no financial risk for the PSOOC. Yeah Llandow is simple and cheap but the numbers have struggled and a number of members of the PSOOC
already said they wouldnt go again, it may be cheap but if we outlay the cost of the hire for the track and we only get 15 people who is going to front the short falling for the fees? The PSOOC cant afford to take that risk.

Well according to the URL that WelshPug posted on the PSOOC thread was £149 we did have a look about and MSV was our choice because a few of the committee (myself included) liked the way that MSV run a day....and if we dont get the numbers they will fill it with "sensible" folk, and from past experiences with some other track day companies the clients they attract can be a little less desirable.

I am sorry if you don't like it Baz but we chose to go with MSV...and as I said earlier Spring Meet will more than likely be at a show. If you do wish to discuss this further please don't hesitate to drop Tony P an email chairman@psooc.com and he can clear up any upset/confusions you have.

Ahh ok, as i say, forgive my assumptions then!

It's not at all that 'i don't like it' Nick, that would be childish, (I may be biassed though as i admit i personally dislike Palmer's organisation and they're seemingly generic silly attitude to how they run their days, hence i'd rather an independantly run day.) but it's not what was originally talked about and offered, hence now i think your opinion of the amount of interest is now unfounded as the interest shown has been to, as i say, something else (particularly price-wise as this is basically what swings people's thoughts) originally offered.

And what's the need for it to be an exclusive day? It'll cost more that way, and we'd be the majority there anyway i'd guess so what's the fuss? The financial risk is there either way is it not? You've now in essence given MSV word that we're going ahead, so what if it flops now? Again if it was run off the back of an already run day, there wouldn't be this risk at all. And no matter who organises a trackday, you're always going to get 'undesirables', as they're just a matter of opinion.

And FYI, the Drivers' day was a lesser amount, £129 iirc, (Although i don't remember paying that much for some reason! laugh.gif) and importantly, no extra for added drivers/passengers.

In summary, the only 'upset/confusion' or 'fear' as i would call it i may have, would be towards any impact this might on the club's already dwindling interest and numbers of late. I must stress that initially this was offered as a sub £100 day, that it is now clearly not, i understand it would've been hard to meet all the criteria anyway, but as proven previously, it can be done. Bit even so, i hope the event is a success of course.
