well after selling the engine from my 405 some time ago (pretty poor really the 2.0 version mostly due to the inconsistant avac system) i kept the 405 and fitted a td lump.

I never really used it much as a td and ended up selling most of the items such as turbo etc.

Its been sat in dry storage for around 2 years and after looking around more they really are becoming rare!

So looking at gti6/2.0 turbo/hdi/v6 engines for it to be honest best value for money is the V6 can get a conversion package with manual box ecu loom shafts brake cylinder etc for around £400

iknow i will need to mod mounts etc but im sure this has been done, im sure ive seen pics on this site but cant find them now.

As per title really any hints tips would be great, think my biggest problem will be ARB as its in a stupid place on the 405 making ANY of the above converions a pain!!

found the pics, main concern is the ARB anyone know if it will fit past?

Not a clue without seeing a picture of the engine bay with the engine out.

doesn't look particularly difficult to relocate the ARB anyway, there may be enough space to mount it underneath the Wishbones with short link bars.

shafts and mounts are relatively straightforward, you wont need the brake bar at all in a 405, its not needed in a 205/306 either IMO.

you will need the transponder unit, aerial and keys, and a length of wire off each component, they are easy enough to wire up.

was looknig today at the car before i order the engine to make sure its still solid engough etc.

ARB is lower than i remeber and as you say mounting it lower did occour to me if i could fabricate or buy some drop links which are shorter.

which you were more local as i would be happy to pay you to do the wiring side of thinks im a mechanic not and electrican! laugh.gif

well copped out and fround a cheap gti6 engine and box so 6 speed it is hopfully the exhaust manifold wount be a too bigger issue.

Will let you know how i get on!

I think the exhaust is more of an issue with the gti6 engine than the V6....
