I recently purchased a 4.75:1 cwp, with the intention of fitting to my 205 track car. However, a friend has been trying to convince me to fit it to the Mi16x4, along with a closer set of ratios from a 205.
The standard Mi16x4 ratios are this, with a 4.43 cwp and km/h @ 7400
1st 3.450:1 53 km/h
2nd 1.850:1 99
3rd 1.280:1 144
4th 0.969:1 190
5th 0.810:1 227
The new box would be a combination of Mi16 and 205 ratios with the 4.75 cwp, again @ 7400:
1st 2.923:1 56 km/h
2nd 1.850:1 89
3rd 1.360:1 121
4th 1.069:1 154
5th 0.760:1 225
Closer and more useable 1st to 4th, with overall 5th almost identical to standard for easy cruising. What do you think? It's a bugger to change it if I don't like it.

If it were me I would go for it. You're keeping the high 5th so you won't loose out there, only thing is will you be a bit busy with the gearstick if they are too close?

Looking at the speeds you can get with each gear i can see a big gain in fun driving through a lot of twisty winding roads where fifth gear is never used!!!! especially here in New Zealand!!!.......is the cwp 4.75:1 ratios available to fit a 4bie?

Yep, mine fits. It's the same as any other BE1/BE3 diff.

Hey Pete, what about the rear diff....do the ratios have to be changed there too???....or is the final out drive to the rear diff governed by the front diff?

It's a Quaife cwp. I can't recall, but somewhere in the UK. It was on eBay.
Changing the cwp in the gearbox changes everything, as it's before the front/centre and rear diffs. That's why it's so easy!
