Click to view attachmentLook closely at this picture. That button says cruise control! Was this standard in some countries?
Also any idea what country that car could be from because it's left hand drive yet the speedo is in mph.

I have a feeling it is from the U.S. Assuming you found it on the 'Peugetoheaven' site, and it is the same car that follows on after that pic, then it is registered in Washington.
It's obviously one of the early ones with the grey dash and that particular glovebox. It's a pity the steering wheel is blocking the instruments as the U.S. ones say something to the effect of 'USE UNLEADED ONLY' right in the middle of the gauges.

I didnt know Peugeots did such levels of comfort.
Has anyone attempted a retro fit over here? Would be interesting

My car is equipped with it. It's never worked however. I have a Canadian Spec car.

My first 405 Mi16, bought back in 2001 was one of the final 1905cc versions and was still "only" 8 years old. But by heck was it a nightmare. Everything went wrong with it.
Current car is older but better, Pug maestro Miles worked it over when he had it and it's been fine. (not including a snapped cambelt

). Best part is the air conditioning - still working perfectly.

Thats quite impressive but then again Miles is fairly handy with a spanner. He once sent me something through the post that had so much bubble wrap on, it kept my mum amused for nearley a week.
So i assume we can say Euro spec cars were not equipped with it, even as an option?

Haha 50! but stuff like that still amuses her. I think Miles may have been after a peice of her but my dad would be having none of it!

Somebody was selling some of the parts on ebay about 4 months ago. I also saw an autotrader ad for a 405 Executive that had it a while back.

Oooh Miles!
Back on topic... can't see the point in having cruise control here in Blighty unless you're on the motorway alot.

I think it was probably let out of the options list for that reason but also due to the cost of putting it in. Cars are already more expensive over here than other places, adding more extras on is something manufacturers shy away from in EU.

Cruise control was a dealer fitted option on series II cars ( >mid '93 with XU10j4 ) here in Australia. Apparently it was an american Dayna system. the CC switch was mounted on the console next to the handbrake and the system is controlled by a small 3-way wand below the indicator wand which looks rather like the one in the pic from memory. I have only seen one briefly. I gather that this system is no loger made.
See my post in the Brakes, Suspension and Misc Technical forum if you have any info on the technical details of how these were fitted.

The speedo is in miles not km, so it wouldn't be European would it? They use mph in America don't they?
