Are the front calipers on series 1 Mi16 the same as calipers on other 405's (such as the SRi, etc)?

Reason I ask is that occasionally, the right hand front brake squeels, but not all the time huh.gif Was wondering if this could be due to the brake cylinder could be on its way out. If so, instead of rebuilding it (which I guess could be costly), I could just purchase a caliper off another 405 (Mi16 or not) in good condition to replace it.

Also, what is a good compromise for a road/track brake pad? What do you guys run? I have used Lucas pads in the past (on a couple of daihatsu charade turbos) with good results (especially for what they cost), but any other suggestions welcome. Was thinking about Bosch pads, but have no experience with them, such as these I found on ebay:

There were 2 calliper types fitted to the 405's. The Bendix were on the lower powered models and the Girling were on the higher powered models. AFAIK, the SRI callipers will fit the Mi.

My favourite fast road / track pads are the Mintex 1144's. Good all round stopping power even from cold .

if there is any difference, mine is a non-ABS model

My favorite pads for "normal" road/track was Tarox, atleast for one season, when it had been standing still over the winter and i went out on the tracks there was no "bite". Donīt know why, but they just had lost it.
Donīt use Greenstuff.. they lasted 1― trackdays for me.

If you can stand "some" rolleyes.gif squeaks Performace friktion PFC97īs works good on road (even cold) and is a really good racing pad, they never fade, they stand ALOT of heat(if you can drive them to it) and they last really good. Unforunally they don't exists in a shape that fits the caliper, but there is another pad thats very easy to modify to make it fit..
Another downside is that they eat alot of disc when cold..
cost around 140Ģ (calculated from swedish prices with 25% VAT)

Mintex 1144's, or Ferodo DS2500. Got the ferodo's on one car and the mintex on another, and they are both superb pads.

Give Rally design a shout, even if they don't stock them they can usually source them for all sorts of cars.
