Finally got my 405 finished and ready to go. MOT is at 12.30 tomorrow. I just hope the MOT tester doesn't think my rusty brake pipes are too rusty.... I know they need doing asap but I need it to pass!

I'll post up again tomorrow to say how it did. I can't wait to drive it, haven't driven it for 6 months ohmy.gif

good luck mate

hows the engine running?
Jer309GTi
Cheers mate. Engine seems fine ATM, a little tappy from the top end as the lifters haven't fully filled up yet. I've only had it idling on the drive for a couple of mins so far to check for leaks/noises etc. It's insured from tomorrow so I'll take it for a good run before the test

glad the engine is running now, now go and get it run in and feel its power.

how the MOT go mate and how it drive with the new engine?
Jer309GTi
Didn't pass unfortunately. Needs a new o/s/r caliper, and the washers don't work. So not too bad. Advisory on a few rusty patches, didn't do the car a lot of good being in a damp garage for 6 months sad.gif

Engine seems really nice so far smile.gif The noisy lifter has shut up, so nice and quiet now. Keeping it below 4000 for now, so it's not coming on cam much yet. Still pulls well at low revs, just can't wait to put my foot down and see how she goes biggrin.gif

I've unseized the caliper, and getting a new washer pump tomorrow (the pump has seized) and the retest is booked for next Saturday. smile.gif

ah not too bad then. glad the engine is running well.

just wait until you use the full revs biggrin.gif

Hmmm bloody car...

Unseizing the calipers did little to increase the brake effort. Turns out the rear brake compensator has seized. So me and my Dad made up some new pipes to bypass the compensator just to get it through the MOT, and replaced a few of the brake pipes with the copper pipe we had left.

Went to bleed the brakes out afterwards and now the 'kin master cylinder is shot rolleyes.gif mad.gif Never heard my Dad swear so much ohmy.gif

Good job we've got the trusty old Triumph as a back-up car biggrin.gif

(On the plus side I've butchered the Mi air filter housing in a moment of madness and I'm loving the induction noise biggrin.gif)
