Hi all,

I have just purchased myself a peugoet 405 MI. Its a ph2 in red (yum) and I paid a bargain price of £600 for her.

I will be very honest and let you know that I bought her soley for the 89 though s16 lump she bears under her lovely red bonnet.

I am starting to have a change of heart though, I now fancy turning her into a touring car style track beast.

Anyone know where to get a roll cage for a 405 though? I can find one anywhere, the rest of it is simple to find but there is no point me starting to look properly if no one makes a cage for them,

Hi John, just saw your post over on 205gtidrivers. It does look very tidy, definately looks a bit of a bargain smile.gif Have you picked it up yet? I was amazed at how well they handle when I first drove mine. Not a hint of body roll and loads of grip biggrin.gif

Two friends of mine have just bought 405 Super Tourers. One was a complete car, including a 6 spd. sequential gearbox, with spares (more Carrillo rods than he knows what to do with!) for approx. $15K. The other, just a brand new shell (series 2), complete with roll cage, undrilled carbon fibre dash, carbon door cards, all titanium bolts, for just $1000. Both got bargains in my opinion. The shell is incrediably light and when fitted out will weigh in at approx. 900Kg.

Keep your eye out. You never know when something like those will come up. They were separate sales.

Your other alternative is to get a cage welded in. Why does it have to be off the shelf? All the good cages over here are welded in by roll cage companies. You'll get a better result. ie a stiffer chasis.
