Evening

Been lurking around for a few weeks whilst deciding on/looking for a car.

Bought this over the weekend ;

To be used as a hack for my business - running people around the Nurburgring on sighting laps biggrin.gif

Thought long and hard about it and it had to be an Mi16 ! The car is having a full freshen up of all the suspension and consumables, it had a rebuild at a dealer 16k ago due to cambelt failure during which it had the top end, pistons and liners replaced.

It will be used for UK track work too, so it will have a more track orientated setup.

Anyway - Hope to be on here for a while - I've some questions to ask!

Cheers smile.gif Darren

Welcome Darren,

loving the first post! looks like you got yourself a great car there and a great job too, lucky b*stard! Thrashing an mi about and getting paid for it, i'm sure it doesn't get a lot better than that. biggrin.gif

Also i like the idea of all going over and having a session on "the ring" i think that will have to be done at some point in the future.
Mr Teflon
It would be no bother to put a trip together for members of this forum.

If we want to get some numbers together I can do a special price for us.

Would there be any interest?

I would be very interested but would need time to get the mi back on the road, and not having a huge amount of free time i think that maybe june-ish time would suit me but if it suits no-one else i'm sure i can re-arrange.

So basically put me down as a yes!

another thought if you want more numbers i could get on to the 205 forum and see if they would want to join us, it would bring numbers up and maybe make it cheaper? get back to me if you think its an idea.
Feeble
Count me in! laugh.gif Always wanted to do this! smile.gif Haven't even driven the Mi yet and am looking forward to The Ring! laugh.gif

Kinda hi-jacking the newbie post here! tongue.gif Doubt we'd get enough 405 Mi16 owners alone to warrant this trip... Mini club's do it in hundreds... tongue.gif

We can get 205 drivers to join us and maybe 309 drivers and go full out pug on the ring! plus i'm sure strings can be pulled?
Feeble
Well up for! smile.gif Time to get a new thread running? smile.gif
Mr Teflon
OK - There's interest smile.gif

I'd suggest planning a trip for around August/September. Toward the end of the season things just seem more chilled!

Also - numbers aren't so much of an issue - I could piggyback this on one of the main trips I run. That way we can keep it low key if you all prefer.

Although if you wanted to open it up to 205's that would be cool too - just don't feel you need to for numbers sake wink.gif

Start a thread, get some names - if there a 7 cars it's a goer.
Cost would need to be finalised depending on numbers but allow @ £150 per person for a 4 day trip, based on 2 per car. This would get decent B&B hotel accommodation very close to the Ring, channel crossings, sighting laps and full support from Ringweekends staff for the duration of the trip. You need to cover fuel, evening meals and laps tickets.

It would be great to get a Mi16 Ring Thing goin' on!

Have got on to it! sorry if i seem to be taking over getting excited with taking the mi round the ring! i was thinking it would be good to get a group of pug enthusiasts together for it how many would you need for our own event just out of curiousity? i'll post on the 205 forum and see who would be up for it just to find out.
Mr Teflon
If we can get 25 cars we can run an exclusive Pug owners event.

Doesn't need to be just Pugs tho' - anyone sociable should be made welcome. The place is as much about the craic as the track.

I can set up a special page on the site for the 'club' with details about the trip, itinerary, who's going etc.

I'm looking forward to getting my Mi16 over there in a few weeks, I've got a customer bringing a GT3 RS over and I can't wait to see his face after he passengers his first lap in my car smile.gif

Believe me - there isn't always safety in numbers smile.gif
A group of 25/30 is an optimal size for a top weekend. Any more and the logistics become exponentially more challenging, and that's just the round at the bar! LOL smile.gif

Haha, oooh, I'm well up for this now! biggrin.gif Gotta make it a goer! wink.gif

yep i second that theory
Mr Teflon
Let's do it!

TBH - having an organised trip is a great way of getting some sound advice from experienced hands on driving the Ring, and the fringe benefit of local knowledge can make all the difference (Like when we pulled up with collapsed suspension on our Caterham and managed to get a part machined in 2 hours, back on the road in 3!!!).

If you can put the two together AND share the whole experience with likeminded friends then you are guaranteed a great weekend!

Here's a film of a few of our trips

I'm the guy WITH the T-Shirt on in the opening clip wink.gif
triple_a_motorsport
Looks really good to me! what the max allowance and or min for this to be a success?
Mr Teflon
Tag along mini event - 7 cars.

Exclusive event - 25 minimum, 30 odd max. Can go higher with more staff my end, plus we'd need to stay slightly further away from the Ring to all be together in the hotel.

Cheers!

Any chance of camping if we exceed that limit? to be nearer the ring not sure whats best but in my experience, at least in this country its easier for everyone to stay up and chat drink or what have you in a camp site than a hotel as they tend to have time they want you in by? tell me that isn't so just wondering whats the best option depending on numbers?

another question, do you need deposits for the event? and if so how far in advance, i can understand the need as you need 100% definate number i guess?

Hi

1) Camping is always an option, but I'm not lugging all my gear over any more wink.gif

2) The bars shut down when you do - but when you know you'll be driving the Nordschleife the next day somehow no-one ever stays up really late on the sesh wink.gif

3) I don't do anything without a deposit - usually £125 per person but would be reduced here to @£75 per person. No deposit, no booking. Sorts the wheat from the chaff if you know what I'm saying ..........

I would STRONGLY reccommend sticking to a limit, having a successful event and running more of them through the year - but if you wanted a 200 car bash over at the Ring it can be done, just not with the level of support I usually provide to give the ultimate experience of the place .......

Hope this helps .....
