Why is the Mi16 relationship a love hate one? I?ve spent thousands on this car, and it still looks shit and is still very broken. Yet I spend half the day thinking about how much I love Mi16's. Seriously I've sat and stared at my desktop picture which is the pic of Bonez car taking the corner on the track, for hours. I just love them. But mine has been soo bad to me.

Sorry just venting, the pressure forks in the clutch went today. Add that to the broken front and rear skirt, the water pump, the unknown running hot problems, and the smashed side skirt sad.gif sad.gif I is just all too much, I think I should go back to 504's.

Get a BX 16v laugh.gif

I know where your coming from, ive spent 9k on my 4bie in the 6 years ive owned it.Im starting to replace parts ive already replaced, the only things original on the car when i bought it is the dash, radiator, tranfer box and shell.!!Its very much a love hate relationship,if it wasnt for that car i wouldnt be in half the debt im in and would prob have a brand new car sat on my drive....but hey where is the fun in that and if it wasnt for us lot they would be a dying breed....someone has to love them laugh.gif

Ive been wanting to get my resprayed for the last 6 years, but because she keeps going wrong mechanically i never have the money to spend on it cosmetically. But still.....i cant imagine having anything else, really cant see me behind the wheel of a crappy 1ltr brand new corsa!!

I reckon i'll still have Gerty in 10 years time......along with a sensible every day car tongue.gif

2 years ago you did come close to selling her. But you pulled through biggrin.gif

I have not spent that lot on mine, probally £800 in the last 2 and a bit years on just keeping it running but i would of spent more if i had it. But as Vicki said when ever i have some cash to get a mod, something goes wrong sad.gif. i got a list still a mile long of little bit that need doin

My first Mi16 was a right bitch to maintain - £2500 in just the one year that I had it and then I got brainwashed by all the crap on 205 drivers and killed it for a 309. Which turned out to be a waste of time because within 8 months I was back to a 405 - my current car. I'll have had it 3 years in June and apart from the cambelt snapping it has been so reliable. Even passed the last 2 MOTs first time.

Don't want to tempt fate but i've only ever had to replace parts that i would class as consumable (shafts, brakes etc.) and i only buy original 88-89 P1's. I think over the last 7 years my 405's have cost less £1k to maintain!

It will probably brake on the way to work now.

Your local stealership must love you Vicki.

Had mine for 7 years now. Cost me £2400 to buy and have spent more on the ICE than maintanence.
Second hand engine from a BX cost me £80. One gearbox plus a rebuild cost me £120.
Spax shocks and springs about £160. K & N filter and FSE boost valve ?? (cant remember!)

All told I suppose about £1k - spent over £500 on the ICE!!!! biggrin.gif

Done all the work myself with a little help from a good mate when I got stumped.

So I agree with Des - cheap car to run, just an absolute pig to work on!!!

Yea they rub their hands when they see me coming blink.gif

Only trouble now is john the pasrts bloke has left and has been replaced by some silly bint that dont know one end of a car from another so end up taking about 2 hours trying to explain stuff to her...grrrr

Dont they use the micro-fische system? Mind you that still means she will have to have some idea of where a part is on the car!

Bloody hell Len!! That's ancient history. Surely the Pug garage in Swindon uses a computer by now?
P Zero
Even if they do they only seem to work if you give them a chassis number sad.gif

But mine doesn't ask, I just go in and say can I have a new engine for a 1990 405 1.9 Mi16 and then they look it up on the parts cd on the computer. And then I say, "Hmm that looks like a newer version of the cd I have at home can I have it please?" laugh.gif laugh.gif

Ita all on computer now.....which is a waste of time as when i went to get the fan relays for the track beast they couldnt find them anyway....soooooooo back to good old microfish to find them

They are useless. My Girlfriends friends dad owns the pug garage here. I get discount on the wrong parts huh.gif
