My CD changer packed up the other day so I'm using it as an excuse to get a better stereo. I've opted for a head unit with a seperate bluetooth adapter. I need to find a switched power source to hook up the bluetooth unit to.
Unfortunately I cant just hook into the stereo supply since the circuit is only rated at 10A and the stereo requires up to 10A. The fag lighter is not an option because its permanently on.
Does anyone know of anything else behind the dash that I can tap into? Or would I be better wiring my own switched accessory power from the fusebox?

Yeah the fag lighter is definitely permanently live. I can charge my phone without even having the key in the ignition. I'm sure on my last Mi (phase 2, 93, also k reg) that it was switched though.

haha, I went out to the car and had a play around. The fuse position for the radio and the cigar lighter have 3 holes. The centre is the supply to the radio, then the ones either side are battery and accessory. This means that you can choose whether they are available all the time or only when the ignition is turned on by moving the fuse position.

Ha, that could be why our 205's radio is always on, even when the ignition is off. I shall investigate....

The cigar lighter and radio fuses are the only ones on my car to have the option. On my phase 2 the radio is number 1 and the cigar lighter is number 16. Yours could be different though.
