I've just bought a MI16x4, the rear suspension is right down and wont go up, the guy said that the pump has broken. D dry.gif oes anyone know where it is and how the hydrolic system works and how to test it, and also does the roller switch under the stearing wheel control it ? thanx, Lee

The override switch is in the boot, LH side. Push this in to raise the rear to whatever height you want. I've got some schematics that will help you.

'roller' switch under the steering column is mearly the interior light dimmer.

Hiya Lee

As Peter said the pump is in the boot to the left, mine has a hazard switch which i press when adjusting the suspension. It might be worth checking the fluid level, they only need to be topped up every few years but if it hasnt been checked for years this could be your problem. On top of the pump theres a fluid level counter. There should be a switch near the handbrake to work the suspension ( mine is differnt and has a relay switch under the dash but someone will no doubt confirm)

If your pump is knackered try calling Daz at spoox componants,he's bound to have a spare one knocking around 0116 2751414.It could also be your sphere, they not too expensive either and fairly easy to change but you could go through a fair number of oil filter wrenches trying to get it off!!Again Daz may have a sphere but its prob best getting a new one, euro car parts and Gsf used to do them and were around £40....that was a few years back mind! Mkae sure you specify its for a 405 4bie if you end up with a citreon bx one they have a different pressure.

If it doesn't rise when you push that switch in the back, it has to be the pump (or power to the pump). The switch in the boot overides all other lockout switches. ie handbrake, foot brake and sway bar.

here is the rear suspension layout (looking at it front to back):

3 is the pump, 5 is the sphere.

The pump is under the boot floor above the rh driveshaft and is a bit of a nightmare to change. If changed you will brobably need to pressure bleed back to the pump as they tend not to work unless this is done.
