Hi
After some advice. My 94 Le Mans sounds a bit 'tappety' when idling is this indicative of anything sinister?
Also when up to running temperature the revs drop and it cuts out, could this just be the idle control valve?
Thanks in advance

The noise at idle could be a small leak on the exhaust manifold, a crack maybe?

Poor idle is one of those things that could be caused by so many different things that it's hard to pinpoint the cause of the problem from here. First thing I'd do is check the ECU for fault codes, though I don't know how to do this on the 2 litre engine. Then there's the basics like everything in the ignition system. Does it do it only at certain temperatures? As Jer said air leaks can do this too. Breathing system blockages. Uneven cylinder compressions etc. And the 2 litre Mi16 coils seem to like playing up for a pasttime.
Actually I probably shouldn't say this but one of the weak points with this forum is that it's viewed by a relatively small number of the pug crowd, unlike the 205 forum where just about every psa "expert" is there to give advice.
