Had to laugh ...one of the young painters from work came over as i was sat in my car ( Tony W s old black mi16 ) .."IS IT REAL" ?? was his first question , playing dumb i asked what he meant .."is it a real MI6" ..."its as fast as a Cosworth isnt it "?? .."no not really", i explained , "its only a 2.0 n/a 16v" ...."my mates Dad had one and it was rapid" !!!.he said
So even though the mi16 isnt actually that quick ( not slow by any means though ) it does have a reputation for being faster than it actually is ...
Although i said no its slower than a cosworth , he didnt say which Cosworth ..so technically i was wrong because the 405 mi16 is quicker than 2 cosworth engined cars that i could name ...mk1 rs1600 and the mk2 rs1800 ... tongue.gif

No worries, deleted other one smile.gif Also I'm pretty sure Mi16's are quicker than Scorpio Cosworths, acceleration wise anyway.

haha, should have went along with him.
so, any escort cosworth owners reading this, ive got a 405 Mi16 available for a swap biggrin.gif

any road with a hint of a bend will have an Mi scampering away fromany Cosworth pre Escort mkV. My old saff was like a one legged cat burying a turd on a frozen pond, although 204bhp in a car only a few kilos heavier than an Mi is a larf.

Sorry, but an Mi16 or escy RS1600/1800, i know which i'd rather have! ph34r.gif

yeah , i know what you mean , mi16 all the way eh !! laugh.gif
To be honest youd be lucky to find an rs 1600/ 1800 , at a half decent price anyway..Even slow coach mexicos go for silly money now blink.gif

- Not in my experience!! biggrin.gif Well I suppose there's a few who've overrated it but generally I've found people expect it to be slow as hell because they think "Hmm small 1.9 engine with a huge body, that's gotta be slow". I've surprised a few of the local boy racers with my car. It's like on the 205 forum, I'm sure they all think the 405 is 1500kgs or something!

The 405 is around the same weight as a 205 with 2 biggish people in, so not a lot in it really

lol! Tell me about it, i've been looking for a decent useable project Mk1 or even 2 for a while within reasonable budget, i'd trade all my pugs(well, most of em! tongue.gif) for a BD example, or even any real type 49/RS! biggrin.gif

In my youth ohmy.gif , i had a lovely mk1 mexico which i bought for £800 , loved the car , recaros etc( had it nicked mad.gif ) ... but nowadays the Ford that floats my boat is the mk1 lotus cortina ...never appealed to me in my Escort days , but now ive no interest in Escorts just the cortina ( mk1) ......they go for silly silly money now and i could never justify buying one , so ill just have to admire form a distance rolleyes.gif ..

There only ever was a mkI Lotus cortina.

The mkII was manufatured by Ford, not Slotus, and was hence officially called the Cortina Lotus.

Back with the mi16 comments , a guy from the latest site im working at noticed my 405 in the car park and came over to have a chat about it on Friday afternoon , him being a car enthusiast , was quite knowledgable about the car, and today at the rubbish tip i was dumping a load of bricks etc out of my boot when one of their workers came over chatting about the car and telling me how he had one a few yrs ago etc etc ...... these cars seem to be attracting a lot of admiration nowadays with a fair few people wanting to talk about it ( which im more than happy to do laugh.gif ) .
